It was not until early adulthood that Gavin Hutchinson considered himself a writer of any worth. His private journals soon evolved into his debut work, a memoir under the newly assumed pseudonym, Dutty Bookman.
Cofounding the youth empowerment organization Manifesto Jamaica in 2010, and then coining the name of the Reggae Revival, a music-heavy creative movement, Bookman effectively helped set the stage for local and global attention to be paid to Jamaica’s unfolding 21st century cultural awakening.
